Music to put you in that romance mood

ASP (short for Alexander Frank Spreng) could be summed up as a German horror/Goth nerd with a backing band. His music may be an acquired taste, but I do love this cover of “Possession” by Sarah McLachlan.

Possession by Sarah McLachlan
Listen as the wind blowsFrom across the great divideVoices trapped in yearningMemories trapped in timeThe night is my companionAnd solitude my guideWould I spend forever hereAnd not be satisfied
And I would be the oneTo hold you downKiss you so hardI’ll take your breath awayAnd after I’d, wipe away the tearsJust close your eyes dear
Through this world I’ve stumbledSo many times betrayedTrying to find an honest wordTo find the truth enslavedOh you speak to me in riddles andYou speak to me in rhymesMy body aches to breathe your breathYour words keep me alive
And I would be the oneTo hold you downKiss you so hardI’ll take your breath awayAnd after I’d, wipe away the tearsJust close your eyes, dear
Into this night I wanderIt’s morning that I dreadAnother day of knowing ofThe path I fear to treadOh, into the sea of waking dreamsI follow without prideNothing stands between us hereAnd I won’t be denied
And I would be the oneTo hold you downKiss you so hardI’ll take your breath awayAnd after I’d, wipe away the tearsJust close your eyes dear
I’ll hold you downKiss you so hardI’ll take your breath awayAnd after I’d wipe away the tearsJust close your eyes

Music for that Romance Mood

I love love love songs with deep male voices and dark romantic themes. I’ve never really been a Goth but I dabble in the music, and have been known to dress in all black. Mostly because I have trouble matching my clothes and wearing everything in one color is easier.

Arcana’s cover of “Enigma of the Absolute” by Dead Can Dance

If you ever played Fall From Heaven mod on Civ 4, this song plays for Runes of Kilmorph (dwarf/earth element religion.) Arcana is a Swedish band, Dead Can Dance an 80s Australian band, both sort of Gothy.

Lyrics written by Brendan Michael Perry / Gus Ferguson / James E. Pinker / Lisa Germaine Gerrard / Peter Lawrence Ulrich / Scott Rodger

Saloman hung down her head, laid bare her heart
For the world to see, she craved for intimacy
Through darkened doors her aspect veiled with indecision
Gazed out to sea, she craved lucidity

Cast adrift from past relationships in her life
Hoisted up the ideal, this was her saving grace
Sea’s of rage that once assailed her concern for the truth
Had passed her by and left her high and dry
In her savior’s arms…

Across the sea lies the fountain of renewal
Where you will see the whole cause of your loneliness
Can be measured in dreams that transcend all these lies
And I wish and I pray that there may come a day
For a savior’s arms…
